Rocky View Immigrant Services (RVIS) recently partnered with the Consulate General of Colombia in Calgary to support several initiatives aimed at connecting and empowering newcomers and members of the Latin American community.
At the Colombian Independence Celebration and Service Fair, RVIS provided information on settlement services and newcomer supports and helped connect community members with local organizations and resources. The event also strengthened relationships with community partners and showcased the range of services available to newcomers.
Building on this collaboration, two entrepreneurship-focused workshops were delivered for aspiring business owners. A business creation workshop led by Patricia Muñoz provided practical guidance on starting a business in Canada, covering topics such as business structures, accounting, taxation, and fiscal responsibilities. Participants were highly engaged and eager to learn more about the entrepreneurial journey.

An additional workshop, Building Your Dream of Entrepreneurship in Canada, facilitated by Bibiana Cala Matiz, offered participants tools, inspiration, and networking opportunities to explore their business ideas and connect with others pursuing similar goals. The strong participation and enthusiasm demonstrated the value of creating spaces where newcomers can learn, share experiences, and build connections that support their success in Canada.
