Home / Career Supports for Newcomer STEM Professionals
CS – STEM addresses the barriers STEM newcomers face due to Alberta’s shifting energy sector. It prepares participants for career transitions by identifying transferable skills, career mapping, and navigating alternative industries. Topics include industry-specific networking, AI in job searches, and adaptation to evolving Labour market. CS-STEM differentiates itself from CBW and ECW by targeting STEM professionals specifically, focusing on their unique challenges in a changing economic landscape. The workshop will be facilitated by the Professional Engineer with a long-lasting experience in Alberta’s Energy Sector.
CS – STEM program is a 4-week workshop focusing on overcoming transitional career challenges by seeing possibilities and advantages in cultural diversity and navigating pathways for alternative industries and emerging sectors in Alberta. Evolving understanding of ever changing Labour Market with group-based job search seminars, as well as individual and group counseling and mentoring sessions per cohort.
The program will be delivered online for four weeks: 9.00am – 01.00pm in group setting AND 01.00 pm – 03.00 pm engaged in individual assignments; alternating between in-person sessions at CCIS’ Main Office and online sessions via CCIS’ Virtual Learning System, featuring guest speakers from emerging industries and preparing clients to transition successfully.
