Keys for Newcomers Piano teacher
Keys for Newcomers, an innovative pilot program, offers newcomers to Canada accessible music education by removing financial and language barriers.
We are hiring experienced newcomer piano instructors to join the program. Through your association with CCIS and Honens, you will be provided rent free space to conduct private or group lessons, an upright piano or electronic keyboard, seminars on the Canadian systems of piano instruction, and a same-language student referral program.
This position requires music instructors to teach In-Studio at CCIS main office downtown.
- Fluency in any language other than English and fluency in English, ability to teach in English
- Experience and ability to teach technique, interpretation, and music theory to students through private or group lessons;
- Enjoy teaching children, cultivating a sense of independence and love of music;
- Create lesson plans that utilize music the student is interested in, all while keeping it challenging and engaging for them;
- Must be punctual and dependable; and
- Must be approachable with regard to updating parents on a student’s progress.
- Five years of teaching experience and / or a post graduate degree in piano or music studies is considered an asset.
- This position will be part time evening hours
