I am Simisola Obasan — a multiple award-winning, triple-qualified lawyer, and the founder of Grandforth Legal Practitioners.
With over 16 years of legal experience, I have built my career as a multi-licensed Barrister, Solicitor, Notary Public, and Commissioner for Oaths, and I am known for my unwavering commitment to excellence in legal practice and client advocacy.
But my journey extends far beyond private practice.
I am proud to be the first Black, first immigrant, and first person of colour (first BIPOC) to serve as a Councilwoman in the City of Airdrie — and today, I stand as the youngest Airdrie City Councillor. In this role, I bring fresh and well‑rounded perspectives to policies and decisions that directly shape the lives of Airdrie residents. It is an honour I hold with both humility and determination.
My influence continues beyond the legal and political spheres. As the immediate past President of the Airdrie Black Community, I have been — and continue to be — a fierce advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion at the local, provincial, and federal levels. Service is not an obligation for me; it is a calling. My volunteer work reflects the deep passion I carry for lifting others, creating space, and amplifying voices that deserve to be heard.
At the heart of everything I do, I am a devoted wife and mother. I have been happily married for 14 years and am blessed with two wonderful children. Balancing family, leadership, and professional excellence is one of the greatest privileges of my life, and a testament to what intentionality, discipline, and faith can build.

Whether in the courtroom, the classroom, or the community, I am a visionary leader, mentor, and role model — passionately championing safety, justice, education, and community empowerment.
And for me, Simisola Obasan, this journey is still unfolding. My commitment remains to serve, to advocate, and to continue opening doors for those who will come after me.
