SERVICE DETAIL

Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP)

This program assists newly arrived Government Assisted Refugees (GARs) with their initial resettlement process. It provides support and essential services for the immediate needs of refugees destined to Calgary, and transferees during their first 6 weeks.

A basket of services including:

  • Individual one-on-one needs assessment.
  • Orientation on Rights and Responsibilities, norms and values as a new Canadian.
  • Application for mandatory federal or provincial documents (Alberta Health Card, Social Insurance Number, etc.).
  • Orientation on Housing, Money, and Finance, as well as transportation.
  • Securing RAP package from IRCC and assistance in opening bank accounts.
  • Enhanced Life Skills Support- practical one-on-one support.
  • School Registration for children and LINC classes for adults.
  • Securing permanent accommodation.
  • Referrals and community connections.

We also provide support for the Privately Sponsored Refugees. The services offered to them are:

  • Orientation and information.
  • Assistance with mandatory documents.
  • Referrals and community connections.
  • Supportive Counseling.
