Building Community Connections through Summer Events

Throughout the summer, Rocky View-Wheatland Local Immigration Partnership (RVWLIP) participated in a variety of community events that brought residents, newcomers, families, and organizations together to connect, learn, and celebrate the region’s diversity.

In July, RVWLIP joined families at Parent Pasta Night in Strathmore, where parents and caregivers enjoyed a shared meal while learning about local programs and services available to support children, youth, and families. The event highlighted the importance of community collaboration, with several organizations providing information and resources in a welcoming environment.

RVWLIP also participated in the Bastille Day Celebration, where team members shared information about MĂ©tis culture and heritage, helping foster greater understanding of the diverse histories and traditions that contribute to Alberta’s cultural landscape.

Later in the month, RVWLIP attended a gathering hosted by Strathmore’s new Hispanic Association, creating an opportunity to strengthen relationships with members of the Hispanic community. The event encouraged cultural exchange, meaningful conversations, and discussions about inclusion and belonging.

In August, RVWLIP took part in Strathmore’s Hispanic Cultural Celebration, which showcased music, food, traditions, and community spirit while creating opportunities for residents from diverse backgrounds to connect. The organization also participated in Alberta Day celebrations, sharing information about CCIS programs and services, engaging with community members, and celebrating the province’s rich heritage and diversity.
