CCIS (Calgary Catholic Immigration Society) is a nonprofit organization that provides settlement and integration services to all immigrants and refugees in Southern Alberta. Since our inception in 1981, we have been a community leader with solid experience in the design and delivery of comprehensive services for our newest neighbours. Job Summary

Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS) Finance Department is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and motivated Accounts Payable Associate and is accepting applications from qualified job seekers.

In this role, you will manage the full cycle of accounts payable activities, support financial reporting, and contribute to maintaining accurate and compliant financial records. You will also play an essential role in supporting the Controller and collaborating across departments to ensure smooth financial operations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process, including verifying invoices, preparing batches, processing payments, and distributing cheques.
  • Prepare and process monthly journal entries.
  • Reconcile and record VISA transactions with supporting receipts.
  • Prepare month-end financial reports and statutory schedules.
  • Support year-end procedures and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  • Support the annual audit process and funder financial monitoring, ensuring compliance with not-for-profit accounting standards and CCIS policies.
  • Assist the Controller with budget preparation and provide support during review and communication processes.
  • Coordinate with the Admin Division to maintain accurate inventory management records.
  • Prepare CRA tax slips as part of routine processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes within the Finance Division to enhance efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.

Qualifications and Skills

  • University degree in accounting (or equivalent) with at least 3 years of experience in an accounting role.
  • Strong working knowledge of Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced).
  • Experience in not-for-profit accounting is considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of work while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a diverse and multicultural environment.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
