Speed Mingling in High River

On behalf of our Speed Mingling team (High River Library, Welcoming High River project,  Foothills Community Immigrant Services (FCIS) and Foothills Local Immigration Partnership (FLIP), we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to those who participated in theWelcoming Week 2025 Speed Mingling Event at the High River Library last September 17, 2025. The evening was a great success, and your presence played a big role in making it meaningful.

The event was designed to celebrate diversity, foster inclusion, and create opportunities for meaningful conversations. Using a “speed dating” — style format, participants rotated and spent a few minutes talking with each person. It was a fun and effective way to:

  • Share your story as a business owner in the community.
  • Exchange ideas and experiences with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Build connections that strengthen our welcoming and inclusive spirit.

Participants willingness to share, listen, and connect helped newcomers and community members feel welcomed and supported. We’ve already heard positive feedback about how valuable it was for participants to meet you and learn more about your organization.

A special thank you as well to Cahina from High River Gift of Music, whose generosity added excitement to the evening, and to Susan from Fred and Susan Pinoy Dish and Christian from Ka Sushi, who contributed the delicious food! And thank you to High River Library’s very own William MacNeill for gracing us with his music talents.
