CCIS Honours Milestone Volunteers

On Thursday, December 4th, the Volunteer Resources Department hosted our annual Volunteer Recognition Event, a celebration timed to honour the International Day of the Volunteer (December 5th).

International Volunteer Day or IVD, as it’s popularly known, started as an international observance mandated by the United Nations General Assembly in 1985. We mark this day, as our volunteers, just like our clients, come from across the world.

The special evening was dedicated to recognizing volunteers who have achieved remarkable milestones, from 5 to an incredible 40 years of service. A particularly meaningful highlight was the attendance of volunteers from our rural programs, who travelled from Claresholm to join the celebration.

The event featured the presentation of trophies to volunteers in recognition of these significant anniversaries. We were proud to honour individuals like Natalina Yoll from the Regional Outreach Program (25 years), the Birdsey Family from Canada Connects (35 years), and Don Wall (40 years).

None of this would be possible without the sustained support of our funders. CCIS extends its deepest gratitude to the City of Calgary, the Government of Alberta (through FCSS), and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for their long-term partnership and commitment to building a welcoming community.

Thank you to every volunteer and partner who makes our mission possible.
