On May 20, we had the opportunity to host our Entrepreneurship & Networking Workshop, “Building Your Dream of Entrepreneurship in Canada.”
“My heart feels incredibly full after witnessing the strong participation, engagement, and genuine interest shown by attendees throughout the event. Moments like these remind me why the work we do at Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS) and Rocky View Immigrant Services (RVIS) is so meaningful”, says Mayil Sanchez, Settlement Counsellor at RVIS.
Our goal has always been to support newcomers not only in settling into Canada but also in discovering opportunities, building confidence, creating meaningful connections, and finding pathways toward a brighter future. Supporting entrepreneurship and small business development is one of the many ways we help empower individuals and strengthen our communities.
A very special thank you to Bibiana Cala Matiz for so generously sharing her knowledge, experience, and passion. Through her guidance, participants were encouraged to think bigger, explore new possibilities, and gain a clearer understanding of how to move forward with their business ideas and entrepreneurial goals.

We are also deeply grateful to the Consulate General of Colombia in Calgary, especially Consul General Jairo Andrés Paredes and his dedicated team, for their collaboration and commitment to supporting the Latin community through meaningful initiatives like this.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this work is seeing people connect with these opportunities and realizing that the tools, information, and support we provide can truly make a difference in their journey.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event such a success. Your enthusiasm, engagement, and commitment to growth made this workshop a truly inspiring experience.
