On September 21, Our Brooks and County Immigration Services (BCIS) and CCIS Calgary team participated in Thrive Together, a community event held during Medicine Hat Cultural Days. The event was organized with support from local organizations and the city’s largest recreation center to promote culture, recreation, and well-being.
Soccer Tournament Brings Communities Together
BCIS and CCIS hosted the 3rd annual Cultural Days Soccer Tournament, which included players from Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs), newcomers, and local residents from Medicine Hat, Redcliff, and nearby towns. The games were competitive and full of energy, with participants from countries like Nepal, Chile, Mexico, Thailand, Jamaica, Cameroon, England, and Colombia.
Volleyball & Sepak Takraw Highlights
The day also featured a friendly volleyball match between teams from Thailand and Ukraine, and a Sepak Takraw demonstration, a unique sport from Southeast Asia that combines soccer and volleyball skills.

Teamwork
This event was made possible thanks to the hard work of CCIS staff and strong support from volunteers and community partners.
