As part of Welcoming Week 2026, Brooks & County Immigration Services (BCIS), in partnership with the City of Brooks Inclusion Coordinator, is hosting an interactive Amazing Race designed to connect newcomers with the people, places, and services that make Brooks a welcoming community. Welcoming Week is an annual international campaign that celebrates inclusion, belonging, and the contributions of immigrants, refugees, and newcomers by bringing communities together through community events and activities.
Participants, four teams with four participants in each group, will visit key community locations, including City Hall, Brooks Public Library, JBS Canada Centre, the RCMP, Brooks Farmers’ Market, and Mosaic Theatre, while learning about local resources and building relationships with community partners.
Through this interactive activity, participants will have the opportunity to learn about local services and organizations, connect with community partners, discover community spaces, and build meaningful relationships. The event will also encourage newcomers to feel more connected to their rural community and the people who call Brooks home.
The event highlights the spirit of collaboration in Brooks and aims to help newcomers feel more connected to their community. Special thanks to the RAP and Case Management teams for their support in organizing and coordinating this initiative.
