Rocky View Wheatland LIP Coordinator

Part-time | 20 hours per week

CCIS (Calgary Catholic Immigration Society) is a nonprofit organization that provides settlement and integration services to all immigrants and refugees in Southern Alberta. Since our inception in 1981, we have been a community leader with solid experience in the design and delivery of comprehensive services for our newest neighbours. We deliver these services through a dynamic, multi-cultural, multi-denominational and multi-disciplinary team of professionals who collectively speak over 80 languages.

CCIS – Community Development and Integration Services (CDIS) Division

Our Community Development and Integration Services Division works towards empowering individuals and communities to make changes through education, volunteerism, and community development and integration strategies. CDIS is committed to creating a welcoming community and helping newcomers and the community alike work together to build an inclusive community. CDIS programs support this goal through various community approaches, including volunteerism, education, outreach, community development, and capacity building for cultural diversity.

Job Summary

Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS) is seeking a highly motivated, community-minded individual to serve as the Rocky View Wheatland Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) Coordinator for the LIP in communities within the Rocky View Region and is accepting applications from qualified job seekers.

Function Statement:

The Rocky View Wheatland Local Immigration Partnership (RVWLIP) is a collaborative community initiative funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).  Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPs):

  • Systemize local engagement of service providers and other community organizations for welcoming and including newcomers in the community
  • Support community-level research and strategic planning
  • Improve coordination of effective services that facilitate immigrant settlement and integration

LIPs do not deliver services directly to newcomers but facilitate a collaborative framework with community partners to ensure the development and implementation of successful, sustainable strategies to integrate newcomer/immigrant needs, build welcoming communities, support immigrant recruitment and retention, create active inclusion, and increase newcomers’ sense of belonging.

The RVWLIP Co-Coordinator will be primarily responsible for managing and facilitating the objectives of the LIP in Chestermere and Strathmore.  They will work together with the RVWLIP Co-Coordinator in Airdrie, Cochrane, and the region.  They will also work with the CCIS LIP team lead, the Foothills LIP Coordinator, and the MHLIP Coordinator, and will be accountable to the Partnership Councils (or their Chair(s).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with existing RVWLIP partners and working group members
  • Seek new RVWLIP partners, and support their participation and leadership
  • Listen to the needs of newcomers through conversations with partners, community organizations, and newcomers themselves
  • Work with partners to review the strategic plan and develop annual action plans
  • Lead the implementation of RVWLIP’s current action plan by working with stakeholders to achieve work plan goals and project deliverables
  • Coordinate activities across working groups, finding alignment with all the activities in the region
  • Continue to develop and test sustainable strategies with stakeholders in Airdrie, Cochrane, and the Rocky View region;
    • To reach out to newcomers to Airdrie, Cochrane, and surrounding regions who are not connected
    • Build welcoming communities
    • Create active inclusion
    • Support immigrant recruitment and retention
    • Include immigrants in the region’s attraction and retention strategy
    • Increase the sense of belonging of newcomers
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of measurement strategies to evaluate RVWLIP impact
  • Support the design of survey/evaluation tools
  • Coordinate service provider and/or newcomer focus groups or survey completion for research/evaluations as needed
  • Participate in meetings/activities held by partner organizations and neighborhood networks to foster strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings
  • Prepare all reports and annual performance reviews
  • Work within set budgets and monitor program expenditures
  • Share information regarding RVWLIP priorities and initiatives with community members, other CCIS LIPs, and LIPs in the Prairies and Northwest Territories

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education
    • University degree, or equivalent experience, in International Relations, business, communication, or a cultural-focused discipline, or Community Development;
    • Background and demonstrated evidence of recent work in community development and community engagement is essential
  • Experience
    • Proven track record of working with multiple stakeholders, maximizing collaboration and creative community solutions
    • Experience facilitating groups, processes, and community engagement
    • Experience in communication plans and marketing plans, and communication is an asset
  • Knowledge
    • Knowledge and understanding of issues related to the successful settlement of newcomers
    • Knowledge and understanding of communities in the Foothills is an asset

    • Current valid driver’s license and access to vehicle
