Navigating the complex world of refugee claims can be overwhelming—especially when misinformation, often spread by unscrupulous actors, creates confusion for people seeking protected person status. In response, our Refugee Claimants Transitioning into the Community (RCTC) program achieved something truly remarkable: the first-ever Legal Aid Clinic in Calgary dedicated to refugee claimants.
Organized at the Genesis Centre on Remembrance Day, this groundbreaking event connected refugee claimants with certified immigration lawyers—all offering free consultations as a humanitarian gesture to support this vulnerable population. The success of the clinic speaks to the dedication of our partner law firms and Pro Bono Law Alberta (PBLA), whose expertise and generosity made it possible.
We’re proud to have brought legal support directly to those who need it most, and we look forward to hosting similar clinics in the future—ensuring that accurate information, trustworthy guidance, and compassionate assistance remain accessible to every refugee claimant in Calgary.
