Recently, CCIS’s Newcomer Children and Youth Connections (NCYC) teamed up with the Multicultural Trail Network (MTN) for a fun winter hike.
With 13 newcomers and two staff members, we all got into the CCIS vans and headed to the Kananaskis Visitor Centre. There, we met up with the MTN crew to grab our winter gear—jackets, pants, boots, gloves and crampons.
Before hitting the trail, we kicked things off with an icebreaker and got a quick rundown on trail etiquette, wildlife safety and gear utilization. Once we were all set, we drove over to the Troll Falls trailhead for a short hike.
The winter scenery was absolutely stunning, and it was a great chance for everyone to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise. The hike was not just about the physical activity; it was also a fantastic way for the boys and staff to bond and work together.
The boys told us they enjoyed the winter hike, so we consider it a success.
A memorable day, to enjoy Alberta beauty in the snow, adding to the value of outdoor activities. Goes on to showcase the power of collaboration between CCIS (NCYC team) and MTN.
Everyone walked away with some great experiences and skills for future adventures.
