The Empowering Newcomer Professionals for Careers in Sustainability Program at CCIS is designed to help newcomers navigate the Canadian job market, develop essential professional skills, and build connections that accelerate career success in the sustainability sector. Through personalized coaching, expert guidance, and a collaborative learning environment, participants gain practical tools and resources to enhance their job search strategies and secure meaningful employment.
We are excited to share the success story of one of our clients, Abhishek Srivastava, from the second cohort of the program, who, after six months of job searching in Canada, secured a position as a Senior Mechanical Coordinator with Tri Innovations right after completing our program.
Upon arriving in Canada in March 2024, Abhishek applied for multiple roles but received no interview calls. After discovering our program on LinkedIn, he reached out, eager to gain valuable insights, and was fortunate to be selected. This marked the beginning of his successful journey.
Throughout the program, CCIS’s employment specialist Aneta Popa offered exceptional guidance, walking participants through key aspects of the Canadian job market. She helped with understanding local work culture, enhancing resumes and cover letters, and optimizing LinkedIn profiles. Her personalized feedback and mock interview sessions, especially on the STAR method, were game changers. These insights helped him feel prepared and confident when similar questions arose during his actual interviews.
The pivotal moment came during a one-on-one meeting with Sami, who provided helpful career advice and made an essential connection with Nidhi Sachdev. Nidhi took the time to understand his background, connecting him with several professionals in her network. One of these individuals, who became his mentor, reviewed his profile and referred him to a role at his company. Just five days later, he received an interview call—and soon after, a job offer!
