The inspiring story of Moses Adedokun, an internationally trained nurse, and his mentor, Lemlem, an Infection Control Practitioner and Licensed Practical Nurse with a bachelor’s degree in public health science highlights the power of mentorship and the incredible impact of CCIS’s Mentorship for Integration Program.
When I first connected Moses with Lemlem, she was unsure if her mentorship would be valuable to him. But she agreed to an initial meeting, and Moses was thrilled at the chance to learn from her vast experience, especially in infection control. That first meeting sparked a connection that changed Moses’s career trajectory.
Moses quickly reached out after their discussion, thanking Lemlem for her invaluable advice. She had shared insights on volunteering opportunities, recommended job sites, and even provided practice materials for the CPNRE exam. Moses was deeply grateful for her dedication, willingness to listen, and thoughtful guidance.
Taking Steps Toward Success
With Lemlem’s guidance, Moses took proactive steps towards his career growth. Within a week, he applied for a volunteering position at Alberta Health Services, Peter Lougheed Hospital. He was selected for an interview, which went exceptionally well! Next, he completed a police background check and started online orientation training, keeping us updated every step of the way.
Less than two months later, Moses shared incredible news: he had been offered a position at one of the reputable health institutions in the Province of Alberta.
