From Welcome (at the airport) to Integration in Canadian society, the Resettlement and Integration Services (RIS) Division of CCIS accomplishes tasks that require hard work and patience.
So, when the team gathered for a team-building picnic at North Glenmore Park, under a sky that couldn’t decide between sunshine and showers, it had to be unforgettable.
It cannot be stressed enough that RIS plays a vital role in the journey of Government-Assisted Refugees coming to Calgary and nearby areas.
This team-building picnic reflected the team’s daily work: navigating complexity, embracing diversity, and leading with empathy through hands-on communication activities.
When the rain came, instead of umbrellas came the dances—the universal language of togetherness. Dabke, Salsa, and Afghan rhythms filled the park with joy, laughter, and the unmistakable warmth of shared humanity.
The weather was probably testing the team’s resilience, and the CCIS spirit came out the winner.
A day like this reminds us: Resilience isn’t just something we can teach—it’s something we live with and share.
Because even when the skies open up, this team knows how to dance. And the rain dances along!
